My continuing experimentation

I failed to get you any pictures yesterday as I was taken out for tea by my mum, I know, I'm spoilt!  I did manage to make another lot of resin up and to put some bails on some of the resin pieces to make them into necklaces.  The other good thing was that one of my orders turned up yesterday, I think if they'd turned up before I got the liquid resin I'd be more enthralled with them but as they're epoxy resin stickers they're thinner and therefore pliable and I'm not sure I like them as much as the liquid resin as they feel more fragile.

Three resin necklaces, the first and third are the epoxy resin stickers
Four resin necklaces of birds and bugs

I've been trying out new things in the liquid resin to see how they work, sequins look amazing I'm impressed by how pretty they are as the resin is so clear they still sparkle.  I've also put some pieces of fabric in the resin to see how it effects the resin and the fabric.

Resin in the moulds, the blue one is a rose shaped mould which is separate to the tray

Out of the moulds, four bird stamps in square shaped resin, four rounds containing two pieces of necklaces, one with blue sequins and one with a stamp showing flowers and a rose shaped resin piece with silver sequins

Rose and heart shaped resin pieces with glitter and sequins

It has to be said that I'm now rather addicted to this and have put food dye in another lot of resin and sprinkles that I found in the larder that were out of date, I can't wait to see what they look like when they're dry.  Twenty four hours drying time is getting really annoying.  I'm so impatient!  I want them NOW NOW NOW! hehe!  Nothing like a toddler tantrum!

In the interests of fairness I must tell you about the failures I've encountered too.  I've found that old unvarnished stamps will have the coloured sucked out of them in the resin.  I don't know where the colour goes but it goes.  I had two beautiful stamps and although they have a certain beautiful ghost like quality I am disappointed that they didn't keep their colours like the other stamps.  I'm also not sure that the food dye ones are going to come out ok either.  Tune in tomorrow evening for another thrilling resin instalment!  I feel like I should get a white lab coat...the big power switch and stitched together monster are optional though.

Top two turned out fine but the bottom two are ghostly images

Oh, and just to show that I have been making other things here's a picture of my pretty butterfly necklace:

butterfly and pearl necklace

It's a fabric butterfly I've painstakingly cut out with interfacing on the back with pearls and light blue organza ribbon to match the blue on the wings on the butterfly.

So that's it for tonight, I'm off for a cuppa and to watch the last A Town Called Eureka *sniff*.
