Autumn Palette

I can't believe how long it took to sort this out, it should have been easy but no sodding internet thingymajig wanted to work for me so I threw my hands in the air and went old school instead.  If anyone whinges that the pictures are slightly blurry or that it's too low tech, imagine me blowing a raspberry at you in a very undignified fashion! ;)

I treated myself to the Colette Macaron dress and intend on making it in both the velveteens pictured, the purple one I already have in my stash and have the red and blue one on order.  The two Boden dresses I spied when I went snooping round the website the other day but am too poor to buy.  I really like the velveteen one for obvious reasons, also it's teal which I really love.  The other dress is fantastic as it's in a multitude of patterns and in shades of purple and pink.  The Clarkes shoes are cute, but are more representative of a pair of teal suede wedges I have already.  The hat is one I tried on in M&S the other day and was surprised it suited me so is on my birthday/Christmas wish list with my parents!  The skirt and dress are from Monsoon, I love Monsoon mmmmmm Monsoon.  I love pencil skirts and the block colour is right up my street.  The dress is all lovely and floaty and the collar is divine with that cross over neckline, I quite like the colour too, but am thinking it would look good in one of the two voiles I have.  And the White Stuff wedges are just cute and in a colour I don't own and would probably find quite useful and couldn't resist the little bows.  I probably wouldn't be able to walk in them but they'd look nice while I sit down!

So that's my mood board/palette thingy for autumn sewing.  Since I haven't done much in the way of garment sewing and have felt a bit detached from it I thought it might be good to inspire myself a bit and get the creative juices flowing so to speak.  It's also a very good excuse to look at pretty things!  However I've realised that because I don't go clothes shopping any more I am a bit rubbish at looking for things and start to get a bit annoyed at the price of things.  I also spotted things made in fabrics I'd looked at and thought, that's far too easy to make for cheaper!

I like autumn/winter dressing, I like layers and love textural fabric and wrapping up all cozy and warm in deep rich jewel colours.  Oooooooh!  Lovely!  I'm quite partial to a trilby and have a couple of interesting coloured fake fur stoles and suede shoes and things that I like to wear in winter like velvet.  Ah...maybe I can get some sewing done and get some pretty clothes to go out and about in!

  3. Thank you both ladies! I realised after I'd put it up I'd forgotten lots of things, like the colours that I painstakingly put together on Colourlove so will need to add another post! haha!

  4. Lovely colours. I have a load of teal in my autumn/ winTer fabric pile and have to think whether to move away from some of the reds I'm drawn to. However I am delighted by your collection if hats and fake fur. Would love to see a magpie mimi winter look! Good luck with the sewing. Enjoy getting back into it! X

  9. Thank you! I try not to look at the shoes as I do like them but not the price, in fact I think that goes for everything in there except when there's a sale! :)
