I made a skirt in one evening with lining, facings and zipper and am so proud of myself as think the fit is good and love the pattern of the fabric. So because I was so happy to have something to wear and wanted to remain cheerful for the rest of the day, I've dressed rather brightly...sunglasses at the ready:

Me wearing me made skirt in green with white flowers that have different colour centres, the brightest blue top I own and matching tights |
I've been scuppered tonight by an uncooperative bobbin and pain in my back. I'm thinking a trip to the chiropractor may be in order in the near future if I can't fix it myself...darn it. Good thing is, I've converted her to sewing! My evil plan is working...wahahahahahahaha!
So I think I'll just recycle something already worn, I also have handmade bags and an apron....goodness I'm scraping the barrel! I do have lots of ideas for other things to make from my stash, but they will have to wait until I've become pain free.
I'm so impressed! Skirt looks lovely, I'm sure you'll get a lot of wear out of it for summer especially, such a pretty pattern. Bad news about your back though, I hope it clears up soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my blog. Sorry to hear about your back. Glad we can suffer together. Hopefully I'll be a prolific seamstress like you (even with back pain) soon, and then I'll have some dresses to match all of my lovely shoes!!!!
ReplyDeletehi! loving all your pics of your fantastic things you have made...you are a clever lady! and also loving the blue tights - wow, they would certainly brighten up any day! and i'm amazed that you made a skirt in 1 evening...i think it took me a whole term to make half a top when i was doing dressmaking on a friday morning!!!!!! and by the end of the term, i was so fed up with seeing the top i now hate it!!!!!!!! XX
ReplyDeleteAww thank you all very much! Got out of work early and bought some new fabric and buttons on the way home and just slobbed out in front of the tv with a cuppa. I'm thinking a bit of a rest will do me good and I'll be back to sewing up a storm on the weekend!
ReplyDeleteSarah, that skirt is my favourite at the moment and was easy peasy, so hope you'll take notes as know you want to start making clothes!
Cyd I can't wait to see the outfits to match the shoes! Very excited as want to steal them from you!
Caroline, thanks very much! I'm so jealous you got to do a sewing class, no one will teach me! Well, can't get a class to fit round work. Try the top again, I always end up hating something that's been hard to work on for a bit.
